Setting Yourself Apart Through Branding
In the creative world it’s vital that you stand out if you want to attract an audience. Attracting an audience probably isn’t the sole reason you create (and I don’t think it should be), but lets assume that’s at least one of your goals. One tool in bringing attention to your work is to create a consistent brand for yourself. You can do this through logos, consistent styling and typography, as well as through maintaining an online presence. A good place to start is by creating a mood board.
Once you have some ideas circulating, you can start sketching out your ideas or go straight into designing logos and picking fonts. It’s up to you! I sketched out logo designs, did some further tweaking in Illustrator, then picked colors and typefaces to match. Here’s an example of my logo:
